The founding fathers made sure that Self Government became the most important principle in the early years of the United States. They expected to have a voice for all inhabitants who could vote in who would be elected to office.

In such areas, voters have an option of State, Local, and National Government. The U.S Constitution consists with six principles as follows:

  • Checks and balances: make equal power between entities to confirm said power will not stick in one place,
  • Judicial review: review of constitutionality by the Supreme Court of legislative acts,
  • Federalism: federal system of government and
  • Separation of powers: makes the executive, judicial, and legislative branches separate.
