We should appreciate the differences in and variety of worlds instead of just transforming them to suit our own ambitions.

This quote to me means that we should accept people how they are, and not try to change them to our benefit, but instead adapt to how they are. I think the author put in this quote because he wanted to tell use how Mars may be different, but we should still accept it, and deal with it, not change it to fit our needs.
