During an event which aimed to pressure the administration of John F. Kennedy to initiate a strong federal civil rights bill in Congress, Martin Luther King delivered his “I Have a Dream” speech.

Martin Luther King Jr. served as an American Baptist minister and activist who was the most prominent spokesperson and leader in the civil rights movement from 1955 until he was assassinated in 1968.
