Answer:

It explicitly states Mahatma Gandhi's purpose of achieving freedom through non violence.

Explanation:

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, or Mahatma Gandhi as he is popularly known, is the "Father of the Nation" of India. And he is also a consistent and firm believer of the non violent ways of protesting.

India had been under the British rule, with many discrimination on its people. Mahatma Gandhi had been a great believer of the ways to attain the freedom of India. But through it all, he also believes that there is an easy way to make sure that the plight of the Indians is heard but without the need for any fighting or killing. His idea of a non-violent means of protestations gained worldwide acclaim, with future world leaders and activists following in his footsteps. The above excerpt from "Gandhi Defends His Beliefs" explicitly shows his overall purpose of achieving his aim through non-violent means of opposition.

What happened to Salva’s uncle? Infer: Why may this have happened?
mr_godi [17]

Answer:

Uncle was shot by the Nuer men. Salva is numb with shock but surprisingly his uncle's spirit is in him. The group treats Salva like a child, shares no food with him, and makes him feel unwanted.

The men are from the Nuer tribe. They may have singled Uncle out because he was the leader and had a gun. Their laughter was evil means that Salva can hear the danger in their voices and perhaps he has some

inkling of what they may do.

Explanation:

Hope this helps.

In this passage from Walden, what analogy is Thoreau using?
zloy xaker [14]

Henry David Thoreau was an American essayist, poet, philosopher, abolitionist, naturalist, tax resister, development critic, surveyor, and historian, two of his greatest works are: "Resistance to Civil Government" (also known as "Civil Disobedience") and "The Mask of Anarchy". His ideals can be summarized by this statement: “the Government should not have more power than the bestowed by its citizens”.

Henry David Thoreau was even imprisoned for refusing to pay taxes in protest for the Mexican-American War and the slavery.

In this passage from Walden, Thoreau the analogy is:

He is comparing life to a moving train

Here we have the evidence to support the analogy:

Let us spend one day as deliberately as Nature, and not be thrown off the track by every nutshell and mosquito's wing that falls on the rails.
