The best answer would be B because if you read the sentence out loud, it doesn't make any sense. Instead, it would sound better if the sentence was 'The funniest part of the speech was when she mimicked a chicken.'

Answer:

The answer is indeed letter B. When she mimicked a chicken was the funniest part of the speech.

Explanation:

The main reason why the structure in option B sounds strange is the fact that, in the English language, the subject usually comes first in a sentence. However, in this option, its position has been inverted. The whole sentence "when she mimicked a chicken" functions as a predicate to the subject and should come after the linking verb "was".

Thus, it would sound more appropriate if we placed the subject and the predicate in their original places:

 • The funniest part of the speech was when she mimicked a chicken.

Can someone explain to me the easiest way to make a metaphor?
Ivan
Just think of two things that could be compared in an unusual way! A metaphor is just a comparison that doesn't use "like" or "as". For example, a simile would be "My love is like a rose" but a metaphor would be "My love is a rose" If you think of it this way, it might be easiest to think of a simile then take away "like" or "as". Be creative with it and have fun

What is the source of the central character's angst in Graham Greene's short story "A Shocking Accident"?
Rom4ik [11]

The answer is A. his embarrassment about the cause of his beloved father's death.

The story revolves around Jerome's father dying because he was crushed by a pig that fell from a balcony. Jerome used to idolize his father, perhaps partially because he also lost his mother when he was very young and his father was the only parent he had. As he grew older, he realized people's reactions to this event was laughter. He became embarrased, and this caused him angst.

Select the sentence that uses a gerund phrase as a predicate noun. Christa chose to write a literary critique of the novel Olive
Pavlova-9 [17]
A gerund looks like a verb which ends in -ing, but it functions as a noun in a sentence. A predicate noun follows a linking verb, such as to be, to seem, etc. So, among all these examples, the only gerund phrase which is used as a predicate noun is found in the last sentence, and the gerund is leading, whereas the whole phrase is leading people to their seats.
