All multicellular organisms develop from a single fertilized egg cell known as a zygote.  As this cell divides by mitosis, each new cell that is formed contains the exact same genetic material.  As the organism develop certain genes in certain cells are activated and others are inactivated so that cells develop into specialized cells such as brain cells and skin cells.

A system of gene control in bacterial operons in which glucose is used preferentially and the metabolism of other sugars is repr
Levart [38]

Answer:

Catabolite repression

Explanation:

Catabolite repression is characteristic for prokaryotic organisms such as bacteria and this is the way to control metabolism.

It is called repression, because enzymes that are involved in other sugar's metabolism are inhibited (repressed). The system of catabolite repression have components such as:

  • sensory systems-detects ratios of glycolytic intermediates,
  • global regulators-control the expression of genes that encode for enzymes.

Scientists can use mutants to study metabolic pathways. These organisms have a mutation in a gene encoding a metabolic pathway e
lisabon 2012 [21]

Answer:

Pyruvate kinase

Explanation:

Yeasts convert glycerol and sugars into glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate (G3P) through independent pathways. Then, G3P forms pyruvate and, in some circumstances, pyruvate is converted in ethanol, which can be used as energy sources. If the mutation affects any reaction before G3P formation, it will only affect yeast growing either on sugar or pyruvate but not both.

Pyruvate kinase is the only enzyme on the list acting after G3P is formed and before pyruvate is formed. All other options are enzymes acting only in the formation of G3P from sugars. Meaning that only pyruvate kinase mutants will lack the ability to grow on both sugars and glycerol.

Jason has five equally massed lead fishing weights, each weighing 250 grams. What is the total mass of the five lead fishing wei
algol [13]

Answer:

1250 g=1.25 Kg

Explanation:

We are given that Jason has five fishes of equally massed lead fish weights.

Weigh of each fish =250 grams

We have to find the value of total mass of the five lead fishing weights

Total number of fishes=5

In order to find the total mass we will use unitary method

Total mass is obtained by multiplying the total number of fishes with weight of one fish

Total mass=5\times 250

Total mass of five fishes=1250 g

1 kg =1000g

Then 1250 g=\frac{1250}{1000}=1.25 Kg

Hence, total mass of five lead fishing weights=1250 g=1.25 Kg
