Why is it important for judges to write opinion papers

Writing opinions helps judges think through complex issues forcing the judge to carefully consider the reasons for the judgement rendered.  Judges also take pride in their decisions and want affirmation that they are correct, however it doesn't always happen.  Hope this helped!
