The lion is mocked and ridiculed before being killed: "Why, he's only a great cat after all! .... How many mice have you caught today, Cat?" Aslan is resurrected and reappears to two girls in the novel. The kind and gentle lion reassures them that even though the witch’s magic is powerful: a deeper, stronger magic is at work in their world.
