Answer:

ATP acts as a regulatory molecule in multiple steps of the citric acid cycle:

 1. An abundance of ATP inhibits the pyruvate dehydrogenase complex that converts pyruvate into Acetyl Co-A.
 2. ATP acts as an inhibitor for the enzymes, isocitrate dehydrogenase and α-ketoglutarate dehydrogenase.
 3. In bacteria, ATP is an allosteric inhibitor of the enzyme, citrate synthase.

Explanation:

In the citric acid cycle, the 2 pyruvate molecules formed can either be converted to Acetyl Co-A or stored as lipids. As the enzyme, pyruvate dehydrogenase has to make this decision, this step of the TCA cycle is a crucial control point of the pathway. Pyruvate dehydrogenase is activated when phophorylated by a kinase but deactivated in the presence of high amount of ATP by a phosphatase enzyme. On the contrary, the presence of high ADP activates the complex.

ADP or a low energy signal allosterically activates the isocitrate dehydrogenase that converts isocitrate to a five carbon alpha-ketoglutarate. High ATP inhibits the enzyme.

The enzyme, α-ketoglutarate dehydrogenase converts alpha ketoglutarate to a four carbon compound, succinyl Co-A. Here, ATP also acts as an inhibitor.

How is mass affected by the location of an object in space?
kow [346]

it is the force with which a body is attracted toward Earth or another celestial body. This means that when you are in space, away from Earth, objects do not weight anything since they do not feel gravitational attraction to the Earth. Objects can have a large mass, but weigh nothing.

You observe a small, nonpolar molecule near a membrane. how would this molecule likely transport across the membrane? you observ
yaroslaw [1]
It will transported across plasma membrane by simple diffusion. simple diffusion refers to a process by which molecules will pass across plasma membrane without the aid of channels located on the surface of the membrane. since the molecule identified was polar once it enter in hydrophobic region of the membrane it will not stick since this region is non-polar and therefore it will move easily across that region.

. Jack and Jill are thinking about starting a family and they come to you with a question about a rare recessive genetic disease
cupoosta [38]

Answer:

The chance of having a Child who is a Heterozygote is 50% , The chance of having a child that will completely come down with Alpers syndrome is 0%

Explanation:

Jack has a history of Alpers in his family

Jill has no history

lets assume Jack is a carrier : Ab ( because that is how he could have survived the first 10 lethal years )

Jill : AA

Therefore the probability/chance of Jack and Jill having a child with Alpers ( carrier ) syndrome will be 50 % as shown below

AA * Ab = AA , Ab, AA, Ab

The child produced by Jack and Jill will only be a carrier of the syndrome and not completely affected by the syndrome
