During a presentation about evolution a student claims that modern giraffes inherited their long necks from ancestral giraffes t

hat stretched their necks to reach for leaves on tall trees.
Choose the sentence that best describes the claim.

A.) Stretching the neck causes gene mutations that can result in an even longer neck. These genes are then passed on to the giraffe's offspring.
B.) Stretching the neck enabled giraffes to reach higher, which gives them an advantage to survive, reproduce, and pass on this trait.
C.) Ancestral giraffes had longer necks than modern giraffes, so the claim is not supported by research.

Difference between specialist and generalist species and their niches?? Example of both?? A little help please
igor_vitrenko [27]

A generalist species is able to survive in a wide variety of environmental conditions and can make use of lots of different resources. Generalist species have a big niche. Humans, rabbits, house flies, and raccoons would all fall under the generalist species list.

A specialist species can only thrive is a small variety of environmental conditions and/or only has a limited diet. Specialist species have a small niche. Pandas, koalas, and salamanders would all fall under the specialist species list.

Which process must occur before the gametophyte generation?
Ber [7]
The process must occur before the gametophyte generation is Sporophyte. A sporophyte is the diploid generation of a plant or alga that has a double set of chromosomes. [ All land plants, and some algae, have life cycles in which a multicellular haploid gametophyte generation alternates with a multicellular diploid generation. In the Gymnosperms and flowering plants (Angiosperms), the sporophyte generation is the most prominent phase, comprising the familiar green plant with its roots, stem, leaves and cones or flowers. In the flowering plants, the gametophytes are very reduced in size, and are represented by the pollen and the embryo sac.

Composed of a phosohlipid bilayer
Zigmanuir [339]

The cell membrane is composed of a phospholipid bilayer.

The cell membrane is primarily composed of a mix of proteins and phospholipids

Phospholipids are a major component of cell membranes. They a head and a tail. The head is hydrophilic (attracted to water) and the tail is hydrophobic (repelled by water).

They form a bilayer in which their hydrophilic heads face the aqueous cytosol and extracellular fluid while their hydrophobic tails face away from the cytosol and extracellular fluid.

The lipid bilayer is semi - permeable
