Now that you've learned about mitotic and meiotic cell division, you understand that the process of mitosis results in cells tha

t are identical to the parent cell whereas in meiosis, the daughter cells that are produced are genetically different from the parent cell. Meiosis introduces variation into populations of sexually reproducing organisms.
What if humans could reproduce through mitosis instead of using meiosis? What would children look like if parents reproduced using mitosis? Would there be any pitfalls in a population of humans if mitosis were the primary method for reproduction?

Children would look like a clone of their parents the problem with this is the lack of genetic diversity instead of sharing different genes to improve the survivability of the species . Say for example if some kind of disease killed one it could kill all because there is no mutation or that could help the offspring to survive better because they are a copy. Think about a starfish or the Gros Michel banana. No genetic diversity is a bad thing

In some chickens, the gene for feather color is controlled by codominance. The allele for black feathers is B and the allele for
puteri [66]

Answer:

B) BB

Explanation:

The gene for feather color is controlled by codominance ( codominance, when both the alleles express their effect, the phenotype is the combination of both alleles, it is the intermediate of both phenotypes).

black feathers is B

erminette feathers WB

white feathers is W

Then the genotype for chickens with black feathers is BB.

also the Bb may be black this is heterozygous condition.

Explain how you could determine wheater seeds in packets of round pea seeds have a genotype rr or rr
mezya [45]
I think you mean Round could be RR or Rr (round is dominant to wrinkled)
R=round
r=wrinkled
RR would be round phenotypically
Rr would be round phenotypically
To determine if they are RR or Rr you should perform a backcross with a wrinkled mutant!
I put a picture to demonstrate this.
If they are RR then if you cross with rr you would only get phenotypically Round pea plants.
If they are Rr then if you cross with rr you would get 50% round and 50% wrinkled. Any wrinkled? Definitely the heterozygote Rr!!
