Health

Coming from someone who has experienced eating disorders…
-be extremely supportive and patient
-Avoid commenting on appearance or weight. People with eating disorders are already overly focused on their bodies. Even assurances that they’re not fat play into their preoccupation with being thin. Instead, steer the conversation to their feelings. Why are they afraid of being fat? What do they think they’ll achieve by being thin?

-Avoid giving simple solutions. For example, “All you have to do is accept yourself.” Eating disorders are complex problems. If it were that easy, your loved one wouldn’t be suffering.

Answer:

The main difference between the controllable and uncontrollable risk factors are that- controllable factors are precautions that we can take to prevent diseases or harms and uncontrollable factors are the ones that we don’t have any control over.

Explanation:

The uncontrollable risk factors cannot be controlled by humans or they do not have that power over it to prevent ourselves from any kind of harm or diseases. Controllable factors, however, can be controlled by us or it involves the steps we take to prevent the risks.

Two examples of controllable risk factors are-

i) Precautions that we take to prevent strokes, like by quitting smoking, having a healthy diet etc.

ii) maintaining the traffic rules to prevent accidents.

Examples of uncontrollable factors are -

i) ageing, and

ii) family history of a disease.
