Autotrophs are organisms that obtain their food source and energy by synthesizing these themselves using raw materials and energy (energy from the sun) they do this in the process known as photosynthesis obtaining energy from sunlight and they are also classified as autotrphs due to the presence of some components/features that will enable them to be able to synthesize their food for example, plants are autotrophs and they possess chloroplants: an organelle that contains chlorophyll that helps to channel the energy of sunlight into chemical energy and as well also gives plant their characteristic green color. They are also known as producers
Heterotrophs are organisms that rely on producers or other heterotrophs to obtain their food and energy. They either depends directly or indirectly on the producers for their energy source i.e. herbivores egg goats that feed directly on plants like grass; carnivores e.g lion that feeds on the herbivores this depending indirectly on plants.
