"Inferno" by Dante, is the first of the three major books that were written by this Italian author, in the 14th century, and that made part of his major work: <em>The Divine Comedy. </em>"Inferno", starts the narration of the Divine Comedy by talking about the adventures that Dante faces with Virgil as they are about the enter Hell itself. Before this though, they come towards a gate, and Virgil explains to Dante what this door means and also what can be seen inside. As part of what is noted, there is an inscription on the door, and the first part of it reads: "Justice moved my Master-Builder: Heavenly power first fashioned me with highest wisdom and with primal love." This inscription means that Hell, as part of creation, is not the result of the work of Satan, but it is part of God´s creation, and it makes part of God´s own plan of love for humankind. This is why the correct answer is the last one: God, not Satan, is responsible for the creation of Hell.

How are the Europeans presented in George Orwell's story? what are they like?
levacccp [35]

Answer:

"Shooting an Elephant" by George Orwell

The Europeans are presented as unnecessary despots, who foolishly portray themselves as lords, by imposing their rule over others, nothing realizing that they are becoming a laughing stock of the ruled. Imperialists all over history think that they are in control not knowing that they have lost their will power to the people, whom they think they dominate.  Like masked people, who have grown to resemble the masks they wear with ingrained habits and prejudices, Europeans must dance to the music that only the crowds know how best to play.

Explanation:

George Orwell's 1936 short story titled: "Shooting an Elephant" describes his experiences as a Burmese colonial police officer, torn in-between loyalty to his official duty and the dictates of his conscience.  According to George Orwell, imperialism and colonialism attract the wicked man's reward: lack of appreciation.

Read chapter 1, “The Prison-Door,” from The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne and answer the question that follows.
DaniilM [7]

Answer:

E. all of the above.

Explanation:

It is definitely D and C, so once there is more than one correct answer, I go with "all of the above". But I can certainly believe B as well, so that makes E more plausible. Good luck!
