fMRI or functional magnetic resonance imaging is an imaging technique in which the brain activity can be monitored by observing the changes in the blood flow. The blood flow can be detected due to the presence of iron containing heme group present in the hemoglobin of the brain. The iron components are utilized to determine the magnetic property which further helps in diagnosis of the functional anatomy, stroke, diseases and abnormalities in the brain. This technique also helps in brain treatment.
