Forced labor persisted after the Civil War because it was a crime in the south for any farm worker to search for employment from a new employer without permission from the old employer.  This law only applied to Blacks resulting in countless black southerners falling victim to a brutal system of forced labor

How did Georgia protect the English colonies?
nataly862011 [7]

Answer:

Explanation:

Georgia is the 13th and last colony of the British colonies, and the only colony under the trust of the London Board of Directors in the previous 20 years. It is also the only colony that prohibits the birth of slavery, as well as lawyers and Roman Catholics. The Crown's interest in the colony was to increase trade and wealth for England, expand and strengthen their existing colonies, and act as a military buffer zone protecting valuable South Carolina against the Spanish colonists in Florida.

Which of these was a consequence of the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965?
Lady_Fox [76]

Answer:

A. Democrats lost political support in the South

Explanation:

Connexus US History & Constitution: Unit 13, Lesson 3

"Southern Democrats, who came to be called the Dixiecrats, continued to oppose the advances made by the civil rights movement. In the century before, starting with the formation of the Republican Party, the Democratic Party had tended to dominate the South. But when Democrats Kennedy and Johnson aligned themselves on the side of civil rights, party loyalties were challenged and broken.

In the 1968 presidential election, many Dixiecrats backed third-party candidate George Wallace. Wallace was the former governor of Alabama and a strong supporter of segregation. In future elections, the same people were pulled toward Republican candidates, such as Richard Nixon. Since 1960, no Democratic candidate for president, with the exception of Georgia governor Jimmy Carter in 1976, has been able to win the majority of southern states."
