Answer:

It takes 100 minutes to fill the tank.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the length of the  pipe used for filling the tank be h

Then

Volume of the  pipe =  volume of the tank

Step 1: Finding the volume of the pipe

The pipe is in cylindrical form with height h and diameter 20m

The volume of the pipe  = \pi r^2h

Where r is the radius of the pipe

r = \frac{diameter}{2}

r = \frac{20}{2}

r = 10cm = \frac{1}{10}

The volume of the pipe

=> \pi (\frac{1}{10})^2 h

=> \frac{1}{100}\pi h

=> \frac{\pi h}{100}-----------------------------------(1)

Step 2: Finding the volume of the tank

The volume of the tank = \pi r^2h

Where r is the radius of the tank

r = \frac{diameter}{2}

r = \frac{10}{2}

r = 5

The volume of the pipe

=> (\pi )(5)^2 (2)

=> 50 \pi-------------------------------------(2)

Equating (1) and (2)

\frac{\pi h}{100} =  50 \pi

\frac{h}{100} =  50

h =  50 X 100

h =5000m =5km

The flow rate of water through the pipe  = 3 km/hr

time taken to travel 3 km  = 1 hours

so time taken 1 km  = \frac{1}{3} hours

To Travel 5 km

=> 5 \times \frac{1}{3} hours

=> \frac{5}{3} hours

converting into minutes

=> \frac{5}{3} \times 60

=>\frac{300}{3}

=> 100 minutes

Mrac [35]

Answer:

Lines a and c have the same slope, so they are parallel. Write an equation of the line that passes through (5, −4) and is parallel to the line y = 2x + 3. Step 1 Find the slope of the parallel line. The graph of the given equation has a slope of 2.

A line passes through (2, –1) and (8, 4). a. Write an equation for the line in point-slope form. b. Rewrite the equation in stan
pentagon [3]
The point-slope form of a line is:

y-y1=m(x-x1),  where m=slope and (x1,y1) is any point on the line

First we need to find the slope, which is (y2-y1)/(x2-x1)

m=(4--1)/(8-2)

m=5/6 and we can use either point, I'll use (8,4)

y-4=(5/6)(x-8)

That is your equation in point-slope form.

Now the standard equation of a line is ax+by=c

y-4=(5/6)(x-8)  we can perform the indicated multiplication on the right side

y-4=(5x-40)/6  multiply both sides by 6

6y-24=5x-40  add 24 to both sides

6y=5x-16  subtract 5x from both sides

-5x+6y=-16  and by convention, the standard equation of a line should be expressed with a positive coefficient for x, so multiply both sides by -1

5x-6y=16
