For her birthday, Samantha received a gift card, with a value of $200, to a department store. She wants to purchase at least 5 a

rticles of clothing for work. At the store, sweaters cost $24.49 each and dress pants cost $36.99 each. If Samantha does not spend more than the amount on the gift card, which system of inequalities could be used to determine the number of sweaters, s, and the number of dress pants, p, she can buy? A. s + p $200 B. s + p > 5 $24.49s + $36.99p 5 $36.99s + $24.49p < $200

Answer:

The correct system of inequalities is:

\left \{ {{s + p \geq 5} \atop {24.99s + 36.99p \leq 200}} \right.

Step-by-step explanation:

Since Samantha wants to buy at least 5 pieces of clothing, this means that the total of clothing she buys can be 5 or more, then the sum of sweaters and dress pants she have to buy is:

s + p \geq 5

She can't spend more than the gift card, this means that the number of clothing pieces she buys multiplied by its cost must be less or equal to the card's value, so she has to spend:

24.99*s + 36.99*p \leq 200

Therefore the correct system of inequalities is:

\left \{ {{s + p \geq 5} \atop {24.99s + 36.99p \leq 200}} \right.

All of these questions require one thing: trigonometric functions.

There are 3 main trigonometric functions, which can only be used on right triangles: sine, cosine, and tangent.

Sine = opposite / hypotenuse

Cosine = adjacent / hypotenuse

Tangent = opposite / adjacent

When trying to figure out what function to use, we always start by looking from the angle. Take problem a, for example. Looking from angle E, of which the value is not given, we have the side opposite and the side adjacent. Therefore, we should use the tangent function.

---The hypotenuse is always the longest side of the triangle. It is never considered the opposite or adjacent side.

Let's set up our function with the given information from problem a.

tan(x) = 9.7 / 5.2

---The tangent of an unknown angle is equal to the quotient of the opposite side and the adjacent side.

Now, solving for the value of x will require a calculator. We'll need to use what's called an inverse trigonometric function. Most calculators have these directly above the regular trigonometric functions, and the inverse functions are accessed using a "second" key.

---Ensure that your calculator is in degrees, not radians!

x = tan^-1(9.7 / 5.2)

x = 61.805 = 62 degrees

Next, let's take a look at problem b. This time, we're solving for a side length instead of an angle. But, we're still going to start by looking from our angle.

Looking from the 38 degree angle, we are given the adjacent side and an unknown hypotenuse. Therefore, we should use the cosine function.

cosine(38) = 53.1 / r

---The cosine of a 38 degree angle is equal to the quotient of 53.1 and an unknown hypotenuse, r.

Use your algebra skills to isolate the variable r.

r * cosine(38) = 53.1

r = 53.1 / cosine(38)

---From here, all you need to do is plug this into your calculator. Since we are solving for a side length (and given an angle), we are just using the regular trigonometric function buttons on the calculator.

r = 67.385 = 67.4 units

Hope this helps!

Lunna [17]

Answer:

(7-2x)3 =9-10x

x= -3

Step-by-step explanation:

we let the number to be x.

twice a number=2x is decreased by 7 that is to say 7-2x, is multiplied by 3, we have (7-2x)3.

the result is 9 less than 10times the number which is =9-10x.

so bringing all these together we have;

(7-2x)3=9-10x.

what is the number?

solving, we have:

(7-2x)3=9-10x

21-6x=9-10x

21-9= -10x+6x

12= -4x

dividing both sides by -4 we have our number

x= -3.

for proof we can substitute x=-3 into the equation.

21-6(-3) =9-10(-3)

21+18=9+30

39=39

Everbank Field, home of the Jacksonville Jaguars, is capable of seating 76,867 fans. The revenue for a particular game can be mo
DerKrebs [107]
The domain will be every integer from 0 to 76867 (it will look like this [0, 76867].
The range will be <span>{0, 161, 322, 3(161), 4(161), ... 76867(161)}.</span>

With the information given, the equation will look like this:

f(x) = 161x

The domain is a set of all possible values that, when plugged into x, will give us a real number. So, if we were to plug in 2 for x, the equation would look like this:

f(2) = 161(2) = 322

Since 322 is a real number, 2 is part of the domain.

While the domain is the set of numbers that substitute x, the range is the product. So in the above example, the range would be 322. Since the domain is [0, 76867], the range would be the set of products that come from plugging in each of these numbers:

{0, 161, 322, 3(161), 4(161), ... 76867(161)}
