Andrew Jackson won the 1828 election against the re-election of John Quincy Adams(second president of the United States) partly because of the Corrupt bargain accusations on him(and also because he didn't have popular support) which entailed his appointment of Henry Clay(who was a fourth place candidate in the election) to the office of secretary of state after backing him for president. The allegation of corrupt bargain against him by Andrew Jackson's supporters haunted his administration and partly his re-election as president of the United States of America.
