Assuming boys and girls are equally likely, find the probability of a couple having a baby girl when their sixth child is born
Ivanshal [37]

Answer:  The required probability of having 6th girl is 0.5.

Step-by-step explanation:  Given that boys and girls are equally likely.

We are to find the probability of a couple having a baby girl when their sixth child is born, given that the first five children were all girls.

Since the events of having a boy and a girl are independent of each other, so

the probability of having 6th girl dose not depend on the birth of the first five girls.

We know that there are only two possible cases (either a boy or girl will born).

So, sample space, S = {G, B}  and the event E of having a girl is, E = {G}.

That is, n(S) = 2 and n(E) = 1.

Therefore, the probability of event E is given by

P(E)=\dfrac{n(E)}{n(S)}=\dfrac{1}{2}=0.5.

Thus, the required probability of having 6th girl is 0.5.

Please help I only have 10 minutes!
Triss [41]
The answer is 39% though the actual answer was 38.67. I guess it's supposed to be approximated???
Anyways, here is my working:
First, add all the amounts of families with an annual income of over $60,000:
63+70+32+16= 181 (total)
Then, take the amount of families who might or might not purchase a newspaper subscription which is 70, and total it on the total which is 181 over 100 to find the %:
70/181×100 = 38.67 (approximated to 39%)
Hope this helps!!!!!

Mr. Collins made 20 bird houses to sell at a carnival. He earns $15 for each bird house he sells. How much will Mr. Collins earn
navik [9.2K]

Answer:

C. $300

Step-by-step explanation:

We have been given that Mr. Collins made 20 bird houses to sell at a carnival. He earns $15 for each bird house he sells.

To find the amount earned by Mr. Collin after selling all 20 bird houses, we need to multiply 20 by amount earned by selling each bird house.

\text{Amount earned by Mr. Collin after selling all 20 bird houses}=\$15\times 20

\text{Amount earned by Mr. Collin after selling all 20 bird houses}=\$300

Therefore, Mr. Collin will earn $300, if he sells all 20 bird houses.
