<span>Large number of men were killed, women had started working during the war and like the independence and so wanted more of this. Everyone was grieving for no matter how small a town there had been great losses of life. Some families had lost all their menfolk and now had to survive without them in a world were married women were not welcomed in the workforce. Men that did return from the war suffered injuries which made them unable to work. They also suffered nightmare of the war which changed their personalities making them bitter and angry with life. Try living with that from the wife's point of view. Everything changed.</span>
