Let " x "  denotes the temperature in degree Fahrenheit .

Let  " y " denotes the chirp rate per minute .

We have given that at 88 degree Fahrenheit , chirp rate is 64 times per minute and at 97 degree Fahrenheit , it is 118 times per minute .

We write this information in coordinate form ( x,y) .

We have ( x₁ ,y₁)  = ( 88 , 64 )  and  ( x₂ , y₂) = ( 97,118) .

                         y₂   - y ₁                     118  -   64                  54

Slope , m  =  ----------------------  =    ---------------------  =     -----------

                          x₂  - x₁                        97   -  88                   9

           Slope , m =  6 .

Equation of line in slope intercept form is

y = m x + b  where  ' m' is slope and ' b ' is intercept .

Plug value of m  , we get

y = 6 x + b .

To find value of b , we put ( 88 , 64 ) in place of x and y .

Put x = 88 and y = 64 , we get

64 = 6 * 88 + b

64  = 528 + b

64 - 528 =  b

- 464 = b

Thus we get b = - 464 .

So the equation become

y = 6 x - 464 .

Equation in slope intercept form representing the situation is

y = 6 x - 464 .

B is the midpoint of segment AC; AB = 8v, and AC = 2v + 42. What is BC?
Alona [7]
2 * AB = AC
2 * 8v = 2v + 42
16v - 2v = 42
14v = 42
v = 42/14
v = 3

BC = AB = 8v = 8*3 = 24

a student found the slope of a line that passes through the points (1,14) and (3,4) to be 5. what mistake did she make?
mariarad [96]
x_{1}=1
x_{2}= 3
y_{1} =14
y_{2}=4
Slope= \frac{rise}{run} = \frac{ y_{2} - y_{1} }{ x_{2} - x_{1} } = \frac{4-14}{3-1} = \frac{-10}{2} =-5

A clock tower has a circular clock face with an area of 144pi square feet. What is the diameter of the clock face? Teacher wants
nekit [7.7K]

Answer:

d = 24

Step-by-step explanation:

The area of a circle is given by A = π * r²

We are told the area of the clock is 144π.

Let's clear the formula for the radius:

r² = A / π

r² = 144π / π

r² = 144

r = √144

r = 12

The diameter is two times the radius, d = 2r = 2*12 = 24.
