Answer:

y ≤ -14/3 or y ≤ - 4 2/3

Step-by-step explanation:

y/4 -y - 1/2 ≥ 3

- 3/4 y - 1/2+1/2 ≥ 3 + 1/2

- 3/4 y ≥ 7/2

- 3/4 y*4/3 ≥ 7/2*4/3

- y ≥ 14/3

y ≤ -14/3 or y ≤ - 4 2/3

This question is far easier to understand if we draw it out. I've included an image attachment to help show the relationships of the measurements. As we can see from the image, their positioning helps form a triangle that we can use the Pythagorean Theorem to find the connection range.
The Theorem is a^2 + b^2 = c^2 where a and b are the legs and c is the hypotenuse.

22^2 + 50^2 = c^2
484 + 2500 = c^2
2984= c^2
\sqrt{2984} = c
54.63 = c
So the answer to the nearest meter is 55 meters.

How does the Pythagorean Table help you with addition?
scZoUnD [109]

Answer:

The Pythagorean Theorem is useful for two-dimensional navigation. You can use it and two lengths to find the shortest distance. … The distances north and west will be the two legs of the triangle, and the shortest line connecting them will be the diagonal. The same principles can be used for air navigation.
