Amelia is writing a response to this excerpt from "On Becoming an Inventor" by Dean Kamen. I decided to put his entire machine s

hop in our basement, but there were two problems... One, his shop wouldn't fit in our basement, and two, there was no way the lathe, weighing fifteen hundred pounds, and the milling machine, weighing two thousand pounds, could be carried into the basement. I solved this problem by hiring a contractor to dig a large hole, break open a wall of the basement, enclose the addition with concrete, and add a roof that could be used for building an outside deck to the house. I also enlarged my mother's kitchen and pantry. I now had the entire machine shop in our basement. Which would be the best response to the excerpt? Dean Kamen writes in a formal and scholarly style. 1. Read these lines from “The Darkling Thrush,” by Thomas Hardy.
Anastaziya [24]
The answer to 1 is imagery because the description helps us to better see the thrush through its use of adjectives.
The answer to 2 is sight, because we see gray rather than feel gray.
The answer for 3 is "is" because "dictionary" is a singular noun, not a plural noun. There is only one dictionary.
The answer to 4 is "was" because "tourist" is a singular noun, not a plural noun. There is only one tourist.
The answer to 5 is "was" because there is only one Statue of Liberty. It is a singular noun.
Remember, the general rule for singular/plural nouns is that plural nouns are usually attached with an "s" at the end. Although there are exceptions, it helps with most nouns.

I'm pretty sure that making yourself a smaller target would be the best choice in this situation, but making a defensive group might also be better.

Study this still image from the National Geographic video "How Flu Viruses
Alona [7]

Answer: A. The fact that the sick person is a child helps underscore the point  that anyone can spread the flu.

Explanation:

People are generally more likely to take notice of something if it affects children because that means it can affect anyone including those same children and there is a general consensus that children must be protected until they hit adulthood.

In using this poster, National Geographic wanted to invoke more feelings of fear, care and empathy in the subject because people watching would try to find out how to prevent the disease to reduce the number of children and by extension, adults getting it.
