Answer: Epithelial tissue.

Explanation:

Epithelial tissue is one of the four basic types of tissues, along with nervous tissue, muscle tissue and connective tissue.

Epithelial tissues form the covering of all surfaces, line body cavities and hollow organs. Therefore they are widespread throughout the body.

This type of tissue serves several important functions, such as:

 • Barrier: it prevents foreign materials from entering the body
 • Protection: it protects structures or tissues deeper in the body.
 • Sensation: Sensory nerve endings embedded in this tissue transmit sensations from the outside.

An example of epithelial tissue is the epidermis, which is the outermost layer of the skin. When Elaine fell off the bike, the most exposed tissue is the epithelium (skin) of her hands, and it's the tissue that was damaged.

Why are males more often affected by sex-linked traits than females?
Andre45 [30]

In homo sapiens(humans), males are the heterogametic sex meaning their sex chromosomes are not the same(=XY) while females are homogametic(=XX).

Sex linked traits or x linked traits are traits whose genes are present on the X chromosome. So if there is a recessive mutation in those genes, males will express that recessive trait. Basically males express everything that’s on their X chromosome because they only have 1, but females have 2 which helps “hide” the mutation and to not express the particular recessive trait.

That is why sex linked traits are more evident in males in the population and an example of that would be colorblindness.

Hope this helps:)
