At first the city state of Athens was not ready to accomodate all the new immigrants and arrivals that were coming into athens, athens was a great destiny for many people because of it was known as a kind city towards slaves, they´d even be freed after a certain time of service, and when people started arriving there weren´t enough houses to accomodate them, so they started to build huts to have a place to live.
