Figurative language uses figures of speech to be more <u>effective, persuasive, and impactful</u>. Some of these <u>figures provide a different meaning than just the literal one </u>(such as metaphors, similes: "as hot as the sun";) on the other hand, figures as alliterations and imageries ("Somehow, she suggested she didn't say it") are devices <u>that appeal to the senses of the readers.</u>
