<span>Prohibition was important because it showed that prohibiting something can have the opposite effect, making it more desirable, hence "we only want what we can't have". By banning alcohol, many people started making their own homemade liquor and sometimes with dangerous and unhealthy ingredients. In The Prohibition, we also saw the rise of organized crime and gang violence.</span>
