This shows how Phil feels about Milo's decision, which develops his character by showing his train of thought and how he feels about the other characters in the story. Without the point of view, we never would have known that Phil felt this way about Milo and his decisions. In addition, the narrator also states how Britt was feeling. "Britt kept thinking that this was the worst movie she'd ever seen, like it was made in 10 minutes on someone's smartphone." This also adds to Britt's character becuase it shows her opinion on the movie and comes to show what kind of a person she is.
