The collection of farms contributes to the Great Famine in Ukraine

The Famine that killed millions of people as a result of Joseph Stalin’s policy of forced collectivization was known as Holodomor. The famine occurred between 1932 and lasts until 1933. The famine was a result of the radical economic changes that were put in place during the period of the industrialization of the Soviet Union.

Further Explanation

Although the famine affects the major grain-producing regions within the Soviet Union, the area that experienced the heaviest losses was Ukraine because, at that time, Ukraine was the major area where agriculture was most productive.

The famine affected Ukraine’s farmers so badly that it became impossible for them to resist the collectivization and Ukraine was economy were traumatized during this period.

The policy implemented by Joseph Stalin to fund industrialization of the Soviet Union had a negative consequence on agriculture. Also, the increase in the Ukraine grain procurement quotas by Stalin in 1932 affected the farmers as there was no enough grain available for farmers. This policy led to the death of millions of farmers in Ukraine, many of whom dies of starvation.
