Which of the following individuals would likely have had the least power in the medieval hierarchy?
Nata [24]

The correct answer is number 2. The wife of a villein.

The work of medieval women was full time in home chores. Their lives were hard and they worked for survival.

In the Middle Ages existed different categories of workers: the villein, the serf, and the peasants. Villein offered their work to the lord or the nobility because they held rights over them. One example was the right of jurisdiction. This allowed the lords to oversee the villein in almost all aspects of his life while he lived within the Lord’s house.

By the early 14th century, the social status of the villein deteriorated so much and were compared to a slave. The villein worked in the Lord’s lands, and paid his taxes in the form of labor
