I think your 2nd attempt is more then beutiful. You might think it's a little too much, but I think it's perfect. The "bending shadows" and using the term "as a snowflake" gives it that mythical vibe.
In an argument, you're trying to convince the reader to agree with you. A show of emotion or being emotional shows that you believe in and/or passionate about your topic.
