The correct answer is C. The poet is trying to get the reader to make a comparison.

Explanation:

The metaphor is one of the figures of speech more commonly used in poetry, in this, the poet compares two ideas, concepts, etc. by naming one to refer to the other for example "You are my sunshine" is a metaphor in which a person is described using an object (sunshine) and a comparison is established between both. Due to this, metaphors are part of figurative language, which means they should not be understood literary. Also, the main purpose of using metaphors is to show the similarities between to ideas to create a comparison between them. Considering this, it can be concluded the effect the poet expects when using a metaphor is that "The poet is trying to get the reader to make a comparison".

What is high level language ?<br>
serious [3.7K]

Answer:

Explanation:

Wake up to reality! Nothing ever goes as planned in this accursed world. The longer you live the more you will realize that the only things that exist in this reality are merely pain, suffering and futility. Listen. Everywhere you look in this world, wherever there is light there will always be shadows to be found as well. As long as there is a concept of victors the vanquished will also exist. The selfish intent of wanting to preserve peace imitates wars. And hatred is born in order to protect love. There are nexuses, casual relationships that cannot be separated normally.”

How does the story "Prince Louie" show the influence of the biblical story of Samson? In both stories, a strong hero loses his s
puteri [66]

Answer:

In both stories, a strong hero loses his strength through the treachery of his wife, who is an enemy spy.

Explanation:

In the biblical story of Samson, his mother is instructed by God at his birth never to shave a hair from his head and he would have super strength to achieve what mere men could not achieve.

True to the words of God, Samson grew up having great strength because his hair was never shaved. He fell in love and married Delilah a Philistine who was sent to spy on him and discover the secret of his great strength so he can be subdued. Samson tells her his secret and he is subdued by his enemies.

In the story <em>Prince Louie, </em>when Louie was only just a child, his mother tells him that soon he would become King Louis of Forbush and she gave him a ring and asked him to wear it at all times and he would succeed in his royal duties.

Just as his mother said, he grew up to become a successful king, banishing his enemies and the kingdom having peace. He fell in love and married Anabellla of Gnarltree who unknown to him was a spy sent to find out the secret of his power. King Louis told her his secret was the ring and sge got the ring off and his kingdom was invaded.

Is the house where Billy sees the sign 'Bed and Breakfast' enchanted? Does the landlady have magical powers or is it all his ima
expeople1 [14]

Answer:

The house is not enchanted nor does the landlady possess magical powers.

Explanation:

Roald Dahl's short story "The Landlady" revolves around the story of Billy Weaver and his encounter with a strange landlady in whose "Bed and Breakfast" he was staying. The story ends unresolved, leading the readers to imagine for themselves what really happened in the end.

Billy Weaver had arrived at Bath for the first time to start his job. As he doesn't know anyone, he decided to stay in a hotel for the time being. While looking for a reasonable place to stay, he came upon a small sign that says<em> "Bed and Breakfast"</em>. And he was hooked as if some strange spell was pulling him towards the place. Even the landlady seemed to have been expecting him, for she opened the door right after it rang.

There seems to be no indication that the place was enchanted. But at the same time, there are certain elements that seem to suggest to that. the narrator reveals <em>"his eye was caught and held in the most peculiar manner by the small notice that was there. BED AND BREAKFAST."</em> He continues, <em>"Each word was like a large black eye staring at him through the glass, holding him, compelling him, forcing him to stay where he was and not to walk away from that house." </em>But this doesn't prove that the place is enchanted.

Moreover, the landlady doesn't have any magical powers, rather she was a killer.
