(1.) the significance for the great plains was it provided Indians and settlers food like buffalo but due to all the killing they were almost extinct.

(2.) the treaty of fort Laramie was an agreement between the united states and the Oglala, Miniconjou and Brule bands of Lakota people it was signed on April 28, 1868
