Sedimentary rock is formed as layers of sediment are layered on top of the already existent sediments, lower layers of sedimentary rock, and fossils they contain, or normally older than the upper layers.  Relative dating allows paleontologists to determine whether a fossil is older or younger than other fossils.  To help the paleontologists figure out the relative ages of the fossils, they use index fossils.  Index fossils are distinctive fossils used to establish and compare the relative ages of rock layers and the fossils they contain.  Useful index fossils can be easily recognized and will only occur in a few rock layers, but these layers will be found in may different places.  This means the organism only lived for a short period of time and that the organism was widely distributed.

How will you differentiate thyroid and parathyroid glands in terms of location and function?
Natalija [7]
The thyroid is a butterfly-shaped gland that lies in front of the windpipe (trachea), just below the voice box. The parathyroid glands are four tiny glands located behind the thyroid gland. The parathyroid glands produce a substance (parathyroid hormone) that helps control the amount of calcium in the blood.

What is the new peptide chain when the new dna segment is translated for 3'- TACAGGGTGCTACCCACT-5'
kakasveta [241]

Answer:

Methionine- Serine- Histidine- Aspartate- Glycine- stop

Explanation:

Translation, which occurs in the ribosomes, is the second stage of protein synthesis where mRNA transcript is used to synthesize a peptide chain that eventually forms a protein. The mRNA sequence is read in a group of three nucleotide called CODON. Each codon specifies a particular amino acid, which is read and added to the growing peptide chain.

In this question, a DNA sequence reds 3'- TACAGGGTGCTACCCACT-5, the

mRNA sequence from this DNA during transcription will be:

AUG UCC CAC GAU GGG UGA

From this mRNA sequence, the peptide chain that will result following translation is:

Methionine- Serine- Histidine- Aspartate- Glycine- stop

Was the streak plate method effective at diluting the population size in all 4 plates?
Inessa05 [86]

Answer:

"Yes" The streak plate method is very effective in diluting the population size in all 4 plates.

Explanation:

The streak plate method is effective because it is one among the rapid isolation method which further allows for easy observation of the bacteria. This method is also being used for getting the color of the certain substances. Its main principle is to isolate the specific bacteria from the sample of various microbes. It dilutes the microbes number and often reduces their density. It is useful in separation of organisms from the group. These are isolated in the agar plate.
