The Populist Party wanted to push several issues at the time in the 1890s in the United States.
1. Free Silver--one of their biggest platforms was to change the currency to free silver to make it more affordable for the average person to use, instead of having money backed up by the gold standard.
2. Eight hour workday--They wanted to have workers and laborers be given an eight hour workday to give workers better working conditions than what they currently faced.
3. Income tax--They wanted to have a federal income tax (which later becomes the 16th Amendment) to have different taxes for people based on their income, or how much money they would make. So essentially, a very wealthy person would have higher taxes than a poor person.
4. Regulation of the railroad--They wanted the government to regulate the railroad instead of the big businesses regulating the railroad and coming up with the prices. The farmers especially felt as though it was not fair to allow the business owners to set the prices.
The Populist Party was essentially called the People's Party because they wanted to better represent and recognize the common people in government.

Answer:
Option: McCarthy was a bully who browbeat witnesses and made sweeping accusations with no basis in fact.
Explanation:
Senator Joseph McCarthy began the period of McCarthyism in America during the 1940s and 1950s. During this period, many Americans arrested as Communist agents without precise evidence. During the McCarthy period, hundreds of Americans accused of being communists and questioning before the government. The fear of the Soviet Union led hundreds of Americans sent into prisons while thousands lost their positions in office. The prime targets of doubts were government employees. His hunt ended when he attacked several U.S. Army officers for having communist sentiments. Many accused him of being a tyrant who used power in a wicked way and never produced a proper document.
The afereffects of the Second World War, which finally ended in 1945 were many and varied. One of the biggest, was a conflict that arose between the then recognized two opposing super powers, the United States and the Soviet Union, known as the Cold War. The reason for this conflict, and which originated from the strife between the two nations over who was more powerful and had more control in the world, was the huge opposing views on how life should be handled. The U.S believed strongly in democracy while the Soviets believed in Communism. Another reason for the power struggle between the two nations was the use by the U.S of nuclear power, which made the Soviets initiate a marathon of nuclear arming, which in turn increased the problems between the two. Whatever the case, this power struggle between these two nations led to one of the biggest divisions in the world and it happened when, after the Great War, the Soviets, who had taken control of most of Germany and Berlin, decided to separate their portion of the city and country with the creation of a huge mortar and brick wall in 1961. This became known as the Great Berlin Wall. This Wall became the paragon and clearest evidence of the division and conflict that was arising once again. But after several revolutions took place in 1989, especially Hungary and Poland against Communist control, the people in Eastern Germany decided to rise as well and in June 1990 up until almost 1992 the demolition of the Wall began. This event showed the shift that President Reagan was asking for, the decision to accept democracy and adopt a more open policy for the sake of peace and the wellbeing of the people.
