The co-ordinates of point R is (6 , 2)

<h3><u>Solution:</u></h3>

Given that M(7, 3) is the midpoint of RS

Also co-ordinates of point S is (8, 4)

<em><u>To find: co-ordinates of point R</u></em>

The midpoint of two points P(x_1, y_1) and Q(x_2, y_2) is given as:

M=\left(\frac{x_{1}+x_{2}}{2}, \frac{y_{1}+y_{2}}{2}\right)

Here midpoint M = (7, 3) and point S (x_1 , y_1) = (8, 4)

Point R = (x_2, y_2)

Substituting the values in formula we get,

(7,3)=\left(\frac{8+x_{2}}{2}, \frac{4+y_{2}}{2}\right)

Comparing both the sides we get,

\frac{8+x_{2}}{2}=7 and \frac{4+y_{2}}{2}=3

On solving,

\begin{array}{l}{14=8+x_{2}} \\\\ {x_{2}=6}\end{array}

Also,

\begin{array}{l}{4+y_{2}=6} \\\\ {y_{2}=2}\end{array}

Thus the co-ordinates of point R is (6 , 2)

A jar contains 8 red marbles numbered 1 to 8 and 12 blue marbles numbered 1 to 12. It alse has 5 white marbles numbered 100, 200
Inga [223]

Answer:

Probability of red marbles = 8/25

Step-by-step explanation:

Complete question

A jar contains 8 red marbles numbered 1 to 8 and 12 blue marbles numbered 1 to 12. It alse has 5 white marbles numbered 100, 200, 300, 400, and 500. A marble is drawn at random from the jar. Find the probability of the given event.

a) The marble is red

Total number of marbles = 8+12+5 = 25

Probability of red marbles = total number of red marbles/Total marbles

Probability of red marbles = 8/25

7 measured data points have a sample mean of 1403 and a standard deviation of 27. Determine the best estimate of the mean value
mina [271]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Hello!

You have sample of n=7 with mean X[bar]= 1403 and standard deviation S=27 and are required to estimate the mean with a 95%CI.

Asuming this sample comes from a normal population I'll use a stuent t to estimate the interval (a sample of 7 units is too small for the standard normal to be accurate for the estimation):

[X[bar]±t_{n-1;1-\alpha /2} * \frac{S}{\sqrt{n} }]

t_{n-1;1-\alpha /2} = t_{6;0.975}= 2.365

[1403±2.365*\frac{27}{\sqrt{7} }]

[1378.87;1427.13]

The margin of error is the semiamplitude of the interval and you can calculate it as:

d= \frac{Upbond-Lowbond}{2}= \frac{1427.13-1378.87}{2} = 24.13

With a confidence level of 95% you'd expect that the real value of the mean is contained by the interval [1378.87;1427.13], the best estimate of the mean value is expected to be ± 24.13 of 1403.

I hope it helps!
