Aristotle´s words are a call for balance and equanimity in our actions. It is negative or wrong to opt for an extreme solution or an extreme situation; it´s better to avoid it. If we have to choose between two options or two situations, the best we can do is to strike a balance or choose the lesser of two evils, that is, if we have to opt between two bad outcomes, then it is better to choose the one that is the least extreme and is closer to the point of balance.
