Adrenal Insufficiency is also known as "Addison's Disease." This happens when a person's adrenal glands malfunction. Adrenal glands are responsible for many functions such as, <u>regulating the body's immune system, metabolism, blood pressure and response to stress.</u> In this case, The glands do not make sufficient amount of<em> cortisol (a steroid hormone).</em>

The client in the situation has a "chronic" Addison's Disease. <em>This means that he had the disease for a long period of time. </em><u>This makes his immune system weaker than before, thus he shouldn't be place in the same room with a young adult who has pneumonia.</u>

Pneumonia is a contagious condition. It is caused by virus or bacteria and can be easily transferred through<em> droplet infection </em>(such as sneezing or coughing). The client will have a high chance of contracting pneumonia because his body has a hard time responding to stress.
