Honestly I couldn't understand most of that but if one gallon of oil is needed to fry 6 potatoes, and he wants to fry 18 potatoes, then he'll end up using 3 gallons
Because it's the first number in front of three numbers. eg. 2659. Any number (in this case the number 2)in front of the three numbers (659)is always in the thousands column.
