The correct answer is C. Young children were kept from working in factories.

Summary: During the Industrialization years (1870-1916) child labor was business as usual condition. Child labor made up around 20% of the workforce. According to 1900 Census, a total of 1,752,187 (about 1 in every 6) children between the ages of 5 and 10 were engaged in "gainful occupations" in the United States. Their parents had no choice to send them to work as their meager wages helped to support the families. The working children had no time to play or go to school, and little time to rest.

The intention of the Keating-Owen Child Labor Act of 1916 was to restrict and limit the number of hours worked by children in the factories and mines. The law did not apply to children who worked on farms. This Labor Act prohibited "the sale in interstate commerce of goods produced by factories that employed children under 14 years old", "the sale in interstate commerce of goods produced in mines that employed children younger than 16 years old", "the sale in interstate commerce of goods produced in any facility where children under 16 years old worked at night or more than 8 hours per day", and "gave the authority to impose fines on factories that violated the law". It was declared unconstitutional by the Supreme Court on the grounds that child labor was not interstate commerce and therefore only states could regulate it. However, a new program of federal regulation in industry began with this Labor Act.

What was one of the events that turned the civil war in the North’s favor
8_murik_8 [283]
Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation proved to be one of the major events of the Civil War. It convinced thousands of slaves to flee the South for freedom in the North, which deprived the Confederacy of a vital source of labor. Even more importantly, however, it transformed the North's view of the entire war.

Answer:

1- New offensive weapons were implemented during the war including tanks and poison gases. In 1915, the Germans used poison gases against the Allies fighting in the trenches on the Western Front. To protect soldiers from chemical warfare, gas masks were developed.

2- The publication of the Zimmermann Telegram and the escalation of German submarine attacks on US merchant vessels led the US Congress to declare war on Germany on April 6, 1917. More than 1.3 million men and twenty thousand women enlisted in the armed forces.

Why did the United States and the Soviet Union install a “hot line” telephone system?
jarptica [38.1K]
The United States of America and the Soviet Union installed a "hot line" for the purpose of faster communication between the heads of states of the two countries. Before the "hot line" was implemented in June of the year 1963, any communication between the leaders of the two countries took a long time and this could result in starting of a nuclear war at any time. To avert such dangerous situations the leaders of the two countries came together to start this system. The importance of the system was felt by both countries during the Cuban Missile Crisis in the year 1962.
