Answer:

Sheri's age = 10

Terry's age = 30

Step-by-step explanation:

Sheri’s age in 20 years time will be the same as Terry’s age is now. Ten years from now.

Let T be the Terry's age

And S be the Sheri's age

S+20= T

Ten years from now, Terry’s age will be twice Sheri’s age

T+10= 2(S+10)

T+10= 2S+20

Subtract 10 from both sides

T= 2S+10

Now we replace T by 2S+10 in the first equation

S+20= T

S+20= 2S+10

Subtract S from both sides

20=S+10

Subtract 10 from both sides

S= 10

T= 2S+10

T= 2(10)+10=30

Sheri's age = 10

Terry's age = 30

A barber’s chair with a person in it weighs 2118.0 N. The output plunger of a hydraulic system begins to lift the chair when the
liq [111]

Answer:5.8

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

weight of chair with person on it =2118 N

Barber applies a force of 63 N

Using pascal's law

we know pressure around both sides is equal

i.e. P_{chair}=P_{piston}

pressure=\frac{force}{area}

P_{chair}=\frac{2118}{\pi \dot r_{plunger}^2}

P_{piston}=\frac{63}{\pi \dot r_{piston}^2}

substituting values

\left [\frac{r_{plunger}^2}{r_{piston}^2}\right ]=\frac{2118}{63}

\left [\frac{r_{plunger}}{r_{piston}}\right ]=\left [ \frac{2118}{63}\right ]^{0.5}

\left [\frac{r_{plunger}}{r_{piston}}\right ]=5.798
