I dont know the era, but early life on earth was horrid for our type of species we have right now, they're was no oxygen, on C.dioxide and other properties, the earth was EXTREMELY hot due to not having an atmopshere yet, And no water, only gas, then fungus and other micro organisms formed due to the heat, and gas which is why fungus can survive in such horrid conditions.
