Answer:

Option C. It articulates with the temporal bone.

Explanation:

HYOID BONE:

Introduction and Osteology:

Hyoid bone is also known as lingual bone or tongue bone. It is a mobile bone and is unique as it does not articulate (unite, join) with any other bone in the human skeleton.

Hyoid bone is a part of axial skeleton and one of the bones of the neck. It is located in anterior part of the neck. The other bones which consitute the skeleton of neck are: cervical vertebrae, clavicles and manubrium of sternum (brestbone).

It is horseshoe-shaped and consists of a body, two greater horns and two lesser horns.

Body is the middle part of hyoid bone. It faces anteriorly.

Each end of the body is connected to a greater horn which projects posterosuperioly. Near the junction of greater horn and body, a smaller lesser horn projects superoposteriorly from superior surface of body.

LOCATION:

It is located anterior to vertebral column in the angle between the mandible (jawbone) and thyroid cartilage (largest cartilage of larynx/voice box) at the level of C3 vertebra.

ATTACHMENTS:

It does not articulate with any other bone in the human body. It is connected to bones only by other muscles or ligaments.

It is suspended by various muscles and ligaments.

Hyoid bone connects with muslces of the mouth and tongue from above, larynx (thyroid cartilage) below and pharynx behind. It is also serves as an attachment site for various anterior neck muscles.

QUESTION:

Coming back to the question, the incorrect statement is asked.

A- it is anterior to the vertebral column.

This is a correct statement as hyoid bone is located anterior to vertebral column in the anterior part of neck at the level of C3 vertebra.

B- It is positioned between mandible and the larynx (voice box)

This is also a correct statement as Hyoid bone is located between mandible (jawbone) and larynx (voice box).

C- It articulates with the temporal bone.

This is an incorrect statement and is the answer of the question as we are asked to pick out the incorrect statement.

Hyoid bone does not articulate with any bone in the skeleton. It articulates with other bones only via other muscles or ligaments.

D- It serves as an attachment point for some muscles of tongue.

This is a correct statement. Hyoid bone is connected to various tongue muscles. Another name for hyoid bone is lingual bone or tongue bone.

E- it serves as an attachment point for some muscles of neck and pharynx.

This is a correct statemt as hyoid bone provides attachments to some mucles of neck and pharynx. Functionally, hyoid bone helps in swallowing and keeping the airway patent (open).

The structures they have in common are nucleus, vacuole, cell wall and membrane and these structures perform different functions.

The nucleus is a membrane bound organelles found in the cell that regulate all cellular activities like metabolism.

Vacuole is a structure found in the cell cytoplasm which is use for storage, digestion, excretion and so on.

Cell wall is a layer surronding the cell to give rigidity, protect and give structural support to cells.

Membrane is a structure that separate the internal of the cells from the exterior or environment.

Help d d d d d d d dd d d d d d d
klio [65]

Answer:

A: By breaking and reforming chemical bonds in the molecules

Explanation:

There is energy stored in chemical bonds between food molecules, called ATP. When chemical bonds are created, some energy is stored in those bonds. When one of these bonds are broken, the energy that was stored is released, and can then be used by your body. Your body then uses a different type of energy, called ADP, to reform the bonds, which then go on to become waste products.

I hope this helps!
