Which learning style is employed when you read a newspaper?

I think the learning style employed when you read a newspaper are the reading style and the visual style.

Learning styles are the ways an individual can learn, according with Dr. Neil Fleming´s investigation during the late ´80s  there are four main types of learners:

  • Visual learners
  • Auditory learners
  • Reading/writing learners
  • Kinesthesic learners

The model is named VARK after the acronyms of the types of learning process.

When you are reading a newspaper I believe you are mixing two types of leaners the reading and the visual one. The reading type it is found on the words you read and how the information is absorved by you; while the visual part are those graphs or charts used to make more clear the information written in words like in the economy part or some social studies printed in the newspaper.

I will give a little explanation why I don´t think that the learning styles used are Auditory or Kinesthesic:

Auditory learners are those that prefer to listen to what they want to understand better, this type of learners are more keen to listen to the radio or podcasts in order to learn from something.

Kinesthesic learners are the ones that learn from experience and practice whether if it is simulated or real. They tend to understand better examples taken out from the nature or the reality than fictional ones.

I hope the answer help you and make you notice that the types of learning are not "one or another" if not they can be a mixture between them to understand better the information.
