Answer: In both, the United States and Britain, one thing that happened in 1870 that limited child labor was that compulsory education and attendance laws were passed in both countries.

Explanation: Before those laws were passed, children worked long hours in poor working conditions. This was fatal to children because owners used children to enter dangerous places in the mines, were adults could not fit in. And the money they were paid was insignificant. The laws established minimum age for work, minimum wages and requirements to attend school. The Elementary Education Act of England in 1870 established the compulsory education for children between 5 and 13years old. It was known as the William Foster Law. In both, the United States and Britain, one thing that happened in 1870 that limited child labor was that compulsory education and attendance laws were passed in both countries.
