scoray [572]

Answer:

Explanation:

1. To swim -- nadar

In this phrase, we have a verb nadar, which means to swim.

It belongs to the first group of verbs, it ends in AR.

It's a regular verb.

Present participle for this verb is nadando, and past participle is nadado.

Here is an example:

Nunca he nadado en el océano.

I've never swum in the ocean.

In this sentence, the verb nadar is in the first person singular form and it's in present perfect.

2. To practice sports -- practicar deportes

In this sentence, we have a phrase that signifies practicing sports.

The verb we used is practicar. It's a regular verb from the first group and it ends in AR. Present participle for this verb is practicando and the past participle is practicado.

Example:

Practico deportes todos los miércoles y sábados.

I practice sports every Wednesday and Saturday.

The verb practicar is in the first person singular form, and it's in the present tense.

3. To use computer -- usar la computadora

The verb we are going to talk about is usar and it means to use something, in this case computer.

It has a double meaning -- to use and to wear.

It's a regular verb ending in AR. Present participle is usando and past participle is usado.

For this sentence, I'm going to give two examples, for each meaning of the verb:

No me gusta usar vestido rojo.

I don't like wearing a red dress.

Mi madre está usando mi computadora, así que no puedo terminar mi tarea.

My mother is using my computer, so I can't finish my homework.

4. To run -- correr

We have a verb correr, which means to run. It also has a few different meanings and phrases in Spanish language.

It's a verb that belongs to the second group, as it ends in ER and it is a regular verb.

Present participle for correr is corriendo and past participle is corrido.

Just like many verbs have double meanings, so does correr.

It means to run, to move, to go by, to change position of etc.

I'm going to give an example:

Mi hermana corrió 10 km en el maratón.

My sister ran 10 km in marathon.

The verb correr is in the third person singular form, in the preterite tense.

5. To sing -- cantar

The verb we have here is cantar, to sing.

It's a regular verb that belongs to the first group of verbs as it ends in AR.

Present participle for cantar is cantando and past participle is cantado.

The main meaning of this verb is to sing, but is followed by many different variations. It is also used for the sound of a bird, or a crow or sometimes even it means to smell bad and to confess ( to snitch ).

For example:

Mis mejores amigos cantan en un coro.

My best friends sing in a choir.

Example for a bad smell, or to stink:

Te canta el aliento por las mañanas.

You breath smells bad in the mornings.

6. To play video games -- jugar videojuegos

This verb is also used for many different actions. It can have as simple meaning as to play a video game, or to engage in any recreative activity, as well as to gamble or to bet.

It's a regular verb and it ends in AR. But there is a small change in the first person, so we will keep jug and add to it preterite ending.

Present participle for this verb is jugando and past participle is jugado.

Here is an example of verb jugar:

He jugado videojuegos hasta las 3 de la mañana.

I've played video games until 3 in the morning.

The verb in this sentence is in the first person singular form in the perfect tense.

7. To draw -- dibujar

This is a verb that means to draw or to sketch but it also means to appear.

It's a verb that belongs to the first group and it ends in AR, it's regular.

Present participle is dibujando and past participle is dibujado.

I'm going to write down a couple of examples:

Ella está dibujando una princesa.

She's drawing a princess.

La gata se dibujó en el pasillo oscuro.

The cat appeared in the dark hallway.

8. To write stories -- escribir cuentos

The verb we have here is escribir and it means to write. It belongs to the third group of verbs and it ends in IR. It's a regular verb.

Present participle for escribir is escribiendo and past participle is escrito or escripto.

Here is an example:

En mi clase de escritura aprendimos a escribir cuentos cortos.

In my writing class, we learned how to write short stories.

Explanation:

Mealtime and courses in Spain:

A Spanish person starts his or hers day off with a desayuno, what we would call breakfast. Usually, they would only drink a cup of coffee con leche. Sometimes, they would eat some pastry, a croissant or something similar. A '' traditional '' breakfast would be sugar-coated churros with hot chocolate.

When it comes to lunch time, Spanish people have their comida somewhere between two and four pm. It's richer and larger than their dinner. A typical Spanish lunch consists of many courses. Firstly, they would eat something light -- like soup or salad. The second course would be anything that involves any kind of poultry, red meat or fish. They also have desserts on the regular basis, like churros, a piece of cake or any seasonal fruit.

When it comes to dinner time, la cena, it's much lighter being compared to the lunch. They have dinner pretty late, usually around 9pm and 11 pm. They would have a bowl of salad, a light sandwich or tapas ( a selection of different cheeses and dried meat that is usually served with drinks at any local bar ).

Mealtime and courses in the States:

American people have three meals each day. They have breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Breakfast is always some time between 7 and 8 am. Lunch takes place some time between 11 am and 12 pm. The dinner is eaten pretty much early compared to the European habits, around 6 and 8 pm.

They really love brunching. Brunch is a meal that's eaten after breakfast, before lunch. People usually go for brunches on Sundays.

Young students love to grab bites that they call '' study snack '' and it's usually around 10 and 11 pm. For American people, breakfast and lunch are way lighter than dinner, as they consider it the main meal of the day.

Breakfast usually contains cereal, milk, orange juice, peanut butter and jelly on the toasted bread, etc. That would be on the sweeter side. When it comes to typical savory meal, it would be scrambled eggs or an omelette with bacon or ham.

The put more effort and focus on the lunch. Lunches would consist of a few courses and dessert would make the third. The same is for dinner.

Types of food in Spain:

The most famous dish in Spain is paella. Paella is a dish that contains a lot of white rice, shrimps, chicken thighs, olive oil, garlic, fresh parsley, and a variety of different vegetables and spices.

Some of other famous dishes -- gazpacho ( cold tomato soup ), tortilla de patatas ( Spanish omelette ), croquetas, rabo de toro ( ox tail, beef, vegetables, olive oil, red wine and broth ), etc.

Olive oil and garlic is a very famous base for any meal in Spain and they treasure them deeply.

Types of food in the States:

Some of the famous dishes in the USA would be:

apple pie, brownies, burgers, bagels, Texas barbecue, deep-dish pizza ( Chicago style dough, very thick and full ) turkey for Christmas and Thanksgiving, etc.

The most famous cuisine in USA would be Chinese food, Mexican food and Italian food. They're followed by Greek, French, Thai, Spanish and Indian, as there are many foreigners in the States.
