I am just going to assume that the non-shaded box is a square, and tha its side lengths are equal to x.

A.
Area =  8^{2} - x^{2}
This is because the area of the shaded is the area of the bigger square minus the area of the smaller.

B.
Area = 8^{2} - x^{2}  \\ Area=8^{2}-3^{2} \\Area=55cm^{2}
This is found by just plugging in the value of x into the previous expression.

The vertices of figure BCDE have coordinates B(4, 4), C(−4, 4), D(−4, −4), and E(4, −4). The vertices of figure BꞌCꞌDꞌEꞌ have co

C.) A <span>dilation with a scale factor of 4, with center of dilation at the origin

Here, You can either draw the figure or compare the coordinates,
B = (4, 4) then B' = (1, 1)
C = (-4, 4) then C' = (-1, 1)
D = (-4, -4) then D' = (-1, -1)
E = (4, -4) then E' = (1, -1)

So, Every coordinate is reducing by 4th factor... Hence, dilation factor is 4 about the origin

Hope this helps!</span>
