Read the excerpt from "The Lottery." The morning of June 27th was clear and sunny, with the fresh warmth of a full-summer day; t

he flowers were blossoming profusely and the grass was richly green. The people of the village began to gather in the square, between the post office and the bank, around ten o'clock; in some towns there were so many people that the lottery took two days and had to be started on June 26th, but in this village, where there were only about three hundred people, the whole lottery took only about two hours, so it could begin at ten o'clock in the morning and still be through in time to allow the villagers to get home for noon dinner. Based on the setting details in this excerpt, the reader is led to believe that the square in the village is a historical landmark that is guarded daily. the villagers are hungry and in a hurry to get home for their lunch. the June 27th date is an important tradition that occurs in summer. the lottery is shorter now that population of the village has decreased.

Answer:

C. The June 27th date is an important tradition that occurs in summer

Explanation:

"The Lottery" is a short story by Shirley Jackson which tells the story of the annual tradition of stoning a drawn person, which is believed necessary foor a good harvest that year. The ritual is held every year on June 27th and this excerpt establishes the importance of that date by showing people of the village gathering in the square.

Furthermore, in some bigger villages, the lottery starts the day before in order for the final draw to be held on June 27th emphasizing the significance of that date and importance of the ritual taking place exactly on that day.

What is the significance of Mama Elena's spirit? What is ironic about her spirit telling
ExtremeBDS [4]

Answer:

Tita believes that when Mama Elena dies, she is free of her commitment, and as you can see from the story, Tita has been entirely free to love Pedro and do anything she wants since meeting him. This, however, is not the case; her responsibility persists. Because she was not allowed to marry or have a relationship since she was meant to serve her mother. She is reminded of her responsibilities by Mama Elena, who clearly is upset by what Tita did; she is outraged and informs her.

Write 2 sentences of your own illustrating the first two subject-verb agreement rules?
Rama09 [41]
Rule 1. A subject will come before a phrase beginning with of. This is a key rule for understanding subjects. The word of is the culprit in many, perhaps most, subject-verb mistakes. A bouquet of yellow roses lends color and fragrance to the room. Rule 2. Two singular subjects connected by or, either/or, or neither/nor require a singular verb. My aunt or my uncle is arriving by train today.
