Read the excerpt from "The Lottery." The morning of June 27th was clear and sunny, with the fresh warmth of a full-summer day; t

he flowers were blossoming profusely and the grass was richly green. The people of the village began to gather in the square, between the post office and the bank, around ten o'clock; in some towns there were so many people that the lottery took two days and had to be started on June 26th, but in this village, where there were only about three hundred people, the whole lottery took only about two hours, so it could begin at ten o'clock in the morning and still be through in time to allow the villagers to get home for noon dinner. Based on the setting details in this excerpt, the reader is led to believe that the square in the village is a historical landmark that is guarded daily. the villagers are hungry and in a hurry to get home for their lunch. the June 27th date is an important tradition that occurs in summer. the lottery is shorter now that population of the village has decreased.

Answer:

C. The June 27th date is an important tradition that occurs in summer

Explanation:

"The Lottery" is a short story by Shirley Jackson which tells the story of the annual tradition of stoning a drawn person, which is believed necessary foor a good harvest that year. The ritual is held every year on June 27th and this excerpt establishes the importance of that date by showing people of the village gathering in the square.

Furthermore, in some bigger villages, the lottery starts the day before in order for the final draw to be held on June 27th emphasizing the significance of that date and importance of the ritual taking place exactly on that day.

Some researchers believe that First officer William Murdoch could’ve prevented the Titanic from sinking
nirvana33 [79]

Researchers believed that First officer William Murdoch could’ve prevented the Titanic from sinking if he had acted early before the ship struck an iceberg.

Explanation:

Titanic was a liner (cruise) on board with 2,223 people from Southampton to New York. That hit on an iceberg while traveling in the sea and sunk in the North Atlantic Ocean. William Murdoch was the First Officer of the ship.

When the officer-in-charge warned him about the iceberg that has been spotted in the ship's path. And William waited for 30 seconds before changing the ship's direction.

Researchers had found that the iceberg was sighted at the distance of 1500 ft from the ship from the investigation of evidence. And the collision happened after 7 seconds of William's order to change the course.

If he didn't hesitate for that 30 seconds to give order then the ship could have saved as well as the people.

sweet T noticed the ratio of long boards to short boards was 1:4. if there were 35 surfboards at the beach, how many were short
Tcecarenko [31]
There were 27 longboards
8 short boards.

I forgot how to do this, so I use logic instead of math. Since we know 1 in 4 boards are LB, you keep adding 1+4 until you reach 35. Then, you take the number of time 1 was added minus 35 to get SB.

The snare is included a story to astound and stand out for the peruser, leaving the peruser inquisitive about what will occur.
