Vikentia [17]

Answer:

market...planned

Explanation:

The mixed economy types are economy types that have strong elements from both the market economies, and the planned economies. Usually, this type of economy has developed from planned economy type, but because of adaptations in order for the economy to progress and develop, lot of the elements of the market economy has been implemented as well. This results in an economy where the government is still holding onto the most important natural resources in order to provide economic security, while the private sector is also thriving and develops very well without being limited by the government, but instead having it as an economic partner. A perfect example of this is China.

Europeans used the Mississippi and the Amazon rivers to meet their business
Salsk061 [2.6K]

Answer:

The Europeans, apart from doing their business through the Mississippi and Amazon, brought diseases to the native populations.

Explanation:

When the Europeans started to explore the Americas, they were trying their best to establish the best possible foundations for business and to make a big profit from it. This led to using everything that was at disposal, and the large rivers, like the Mississippi and Amazon, were excellent for easy travel and transportation over long distances. While these rivers served the Europeans very well, it brought tragedy to the natives.

Not always the Europeans were agressive to the native populations, but actually, more often than not they tried to establish good relations with them because in that manner they were able to have greater benefit. Unfortunately, through the interaction, the Europeans transmitted multiple diseases to the natives for which they did not have immune system capable of coping with them. This led to mass dying out of native populations. Both continents were heavily affected by this, and while often forgotten, the Amazon basin, with the new discoveries and what has been written in the exploration books by the Europeans, might have had several million-strong populations, which dissapeared in only a few decades.

Helium was discovered on earth years after it had been discovered on the sun.
Zinaida [17]
The statement is true.
As weird as it may sound, helium was indeed first discovered on the Sun, and after some time on Earth. The first evidence of helium was observed on August 18 1868, as a bright yellow line with a wavelength of 587.49 nanometers in the spectrum of the Sun's chromosphere. This line has been detected by a French astronomer by the name of Jules Janssen during a total solar eclipse in Gantur, India.

Explain and discuss the relationship between Prestige, Power and Income when examining Social Stratification.
gizmo_the_mogwai [7]

Answer:

Social Stratification

She's from the wrong side of the tracks. He was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. This degree is my ticket to the world!

What do these phrases mean? They are referencing social standing or social stratification. Social stratification is a method by which societies categorize and rank members in a hierarchy.

Stratification is a key concept in sociology. Early societies didn't rank members. As societies evolved, they began to classify their members. Some categories, like landowners, received promotions. Others, like wage earners, seemed to be demoted.

Today, all societies use social stratification, though some countries are more stratified than others. The systems and the beliefs behind those systems are deep-rooted. Stratification systems impose inequalities that persist for generations.

Social Stratification in the U.S.

For example, in the United States, it's fairly easy to detect the 'haves' from the 'have-nots.' Today's Rockefellers still enjoy the wealth and status gained by family members in the late 19th century. On the other hand, some families of former slaves still struggle.

The U.S. stratification system is based on socioeconomic status or SES. SES is a categorization formula that considers a person's income, education, and occupation. Our society places a higher value on:

Wealth

Longer periods of education

Occupations that require advanced degrees

The sum of these factors is used to determine a person's general social class. Social class is important because the U.S. uses a class system of stratification. A class system is a stratification system in which a person's social status is based on achievement. For the most part, that means Americans can choose or earn social status. They are not locked into a particular status from birth. Class systems allow social mobility, which is movement up or down the social hierarchy. This is a unique characteristic of the class system. This equality of opportunity is often referred to as the 'American Dream.'

For example, the Rockefeller family owes their fortune to John D. Rockefeller. John was the son of a traveling peddler who'd been run out of town and accused of crimes. He was forced to drop out of high school. He set his mind to business and executed a series of timely oil deals. By age 38, his company controlled 90% of the oil refined in the U.S.
